Ex-panel mayor of Barishal City Corporation Kohinoor arrested

Police have arrested Kohinoor Begum, former panel mayor of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) and general secretary of Barishal Metropolitan Mohila Awami League.
She was arrested from her house in the Bhatikhana area of the city this afternoon, said Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman.
Police sources said Kohinoor Begum is accused in four cases, including attack, vandalism, and arson at the BNP party office on August 4.
It is also being investigated whether there are any other cases against her.
Kohinoor was a councillor in the reserved wards 7, 8 and 9 of BCC several times.
She was the panel mayor of the council of Abul Khair Abdullah Khokon Serniabat, the cousin of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former mayor of Barishal City Corporation, in the last Awami League government.
